Local Attractions

Northern Lights

Caithness is one of the few places in mainland Scotland where sightings of the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis, can be seen well. You might be lucky enough to enjoy such a sight, when you visit A1 Castle Views B&B in Keiss, and the local dark skies show them to their best.

Walking and Cycling

The far north is also known as the northern lowlands and walking or cycling around the local area is not as testing as it can be in other parts of the highlands but the views around can be equally satisfying.

Historic Caithness

Along with the gentle countryside you will find local historic features that go back to the earliest Neanderthal inhabitants, through the Vikings and into the peak of the fishing industry in the 19th Century.

John O’Groats

Of course you must visit John O’Groats during your stay. It is just ten minutes up the A99 from A1 Castle Views Bed and Breakfast
